site we’re psyched about: jme at jamieoliver.com

We’re big fans of Jamie Oliver here at Shelterrific. Just today I fell further in love with the man. I stumbled upon JamieOliver.com and had so much fun browsing the Jme Shop. According to the site, “Jme features some of the world’s best designs, created by talented people who care about delivering inspirational products at a great price.” Well I agree wholeheartedly. I think I like his product plugs as much as his recipes! –Erica P.

very cute, but British items will cost more. Think the price plus, due to dollar’s rise and fall, not to mention shipping. While I LOVE British style, and most of the things they make/design, I need to keep a tight rein on my spending as the economy tanks.
Why not do some features about local places around the country that have great design, food items, thrifty and clever. Ask the readers where are you shopping, neat finds, great bargain, how are people handling a decline in personal spending. This is the time when you can really stand out by showing us/helping us find resources for better living in our own backyard.
I understand that all the countries around the world are affected by the economic turmoil. I know about buying from small businesses that empower individuals in small communities outside the US (fair trade)I know about scaling back expectations, I think when I buy, and try to buy locally so that my neighbors, local businesses can compete against not only cheaper imports, but the Walmart down the street. I sometimes feel like this is about BUY, BUY, BUY but the original magazine where this blog jumped off from was anything but that. It was reuse, refurbish, retain…am I missing something, has the mission changed? The economy has, the country, and so are the individuals who make up the visitors to the site.
