My favorite is Basil I use it im my grilled cheese as well as to make some awesome pesto!
I like basil. I grow it just to make my kitchen smelling fresh. I love to use it in marinara sauce.
Basil (also my grandfather’s name!) Besides the usual methods, I made some basil and garlic infused vinegar this winter that is SOOOO GOOOOD on fish & chips! (And on lots of other things, too)
Dill weed on mashed potatoes. My sister and I used to tick my mom off every time she pulled the dill weed out of the cabinet (those were the days of Beavis and Butthead).
basil is my favorite herb, esp. for its use in caprese salads :)
Target is one of my favorite stores. They have already come up with tons of cool stuff and they keep selling even more. I would love to have a little “spice” garden.
cilantro-anything mexican
my favorite herb is lavender. I like to collect and dry it in bunches and use it for scented drawer pillows. I also like to grow my own ingredients for italian seasoning!
My favorite herb is basil. I love to cut up fresh basil and add it to the top of spaghetti.
oooh, cilantro. that’s my absolute favorite herb, and fresher is better!
Cilantro in my guacamole! Thanks for the giveaway!
it’s hard to choose one, but i’d have to say cilantro because i like the big flavor. i love sprinkling it in anything with a mexican flair, and it’s a must in my cowboy caviar recipe.
My favorite is rosemary. I love, love, love it. I use it every chance I get — obviously in my spaghetti sauce, but also on grilled or roasted meat (all kinds), and especially on roasted sweet or regular potatoes.
chives! I use them on everything but my favorite is on a baked potato.
Oh dear, too many options. At first I thought there was no question – cilantro! But then I remembered how much I love ginger (homemade ginger ale really has no equal and is ridiculously easy to make). So it’s ginger for the win (for now).
Cilantro is my favorite. I use it regularly to make fresh salsa and pico de gallo…so good!
I grow three kinds of mint – peppermint, curly spearmint, and catnip (for the cat, obviously.) My favorite is the curly spearmint, which I use for fresh mojitos in the summertime!
That’s a neat giveaway!
Tough to choose a favorite herb. It’s a toss-up between lemon basil, which I use with fish; cilantro, which I use in my homemade guacamole; and garlic chives, which I use in so many things it would take up all your comment space. :)
Good luck to everyone!
My favorite is basil. It just says summer to me.
Wow – that is just about my style. I hate buying a bunch of herbs at the store when I just need a spring. This would be perfect. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love basil because every time I put it in something my husband says it tastes like something from a fancy restaurant!
Call me old-fashioned, but I like parsley. Parsley pesto is so bright and fresh-tasting, I wish I had some right now at my desk.
Basil is by far my favorite because you can use it in so many things. My favorite: pesto!
Cilantro – in omelettes, tacos, pico de gallo, etc.
Rosemary is my favorite. My husband and I spent six months in rural Uganda cooking with severely limited ingredients, but our giant rosemary bush in the backyard always carried us through. I put it in everything: rosemary pepper quick bread, rosemary garlic pork, rosemary pasta. We’re back in the States now, and I already miss the backyard bush.
Solar powered lawn lights! sweeet! I’m moving in a month, to a cute house with a backyard… those would be so cute. also…love fresh herbs….I bought all my supplies to plant, but haven’t done anything yet. ugh.
Parsley, hands down. It’s the not-so-secret ingredient when I make spaghetti sauce. Also, I sneak it into everything else when hubby isn’t looking.
Tarragon, tarragon, tarragon. Chix tarragon salad on wheat bread is one of my favorite is a favorite of mine for lunch.
I would have to say basil. The smell is just too amazing. I want it in everything: my pasta, my soap, my martini, everything.
I LOVE fresh mint in my tea, or as an infusion and mojitos! It reminds me of summer, and I can’t wait for my first taste of mint in my drinks!
I think I have to go with rosemary. For one, my 5 year-old daughter loves foods with rosemary and believe me, that’s a huge plus. It makes a nice indoor plant in the winter too.
There are so many! Cilantro in a fresh salsa or dill thrown into a tuna salad.
I love chives! Relatively easy to grow (which is great as I have a black thumb) and tasty and delicate in dishes where regular onion tastes too strong.
i just moved this would look great on my deck
Basil, Basil, Basil- we make homemade pesto all summer long and freeze it to last as long as possible through the winter. Of course, we’re throwing the basil in and on everything else we can all along too! Thanks for a great contest! -e
I love basil, it’s my absolute favorite. I use it pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, and hundreds of other things. Summer to me is a fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. Yummy.
I used to hate cilantro, but now it’s my favorite herb, especially since I can get it year round at any grocery store. I use it for mexican type food of course but also in any salad. It just makes everything taste so fresh.
My favorite herb is not usual – basil. I love to use it to make fresh tofu-pesto!
I love basil. I use it most often in pesto pasta. Yum!
I’d say it’s a tie between rosemary and mint! I love to take either one and just chew on the fresh leaves… they’re terrific for freshening breath and just feeling summery and happy.
I’m graduating from college in less than a month and will soon have to be a grownup doing grownup things… Help!
My favorite herb is dill – I literally put it in and on everything.
Cilantro rocks. I love it as a garnish for almost everything. Plus fresh cilantro with some lime and green chili paste makes a great marinade.
i love fresh sage. i gro several varieties but i think my favorite is pineapple sage. it adds such a fresh taste to everything- soups, salads, you name it!
I think basil is one of my favorites herbs to have fresh! Perfect with some melty mozzarella on a tortilla.
Basil! Fresh … some from the garden tomatoes, some chopped garlic, and a splash of olive oil … perfect pasta! Heaven!
Basil! (Which seems to be popular…for good reason). It makes everything taste that much more refreshing.
I love fresh basil and parsley, and grow several plants of each. But my sleeper fave is fresh oregano – it is spicy and hot, and a great fresh flavor to add to summer pastas, salads, pizzas…
Parsley….It neutralizes my stinky breath after a garlicky meal.
Garlic chives! I never, ever make mashed potatoes without them anymore.
