my plan was to go to a park and pull ivy and other weeds!

we are going to plant some trees

Heather

I’m taking in old electronics to be recycled, participating in a plant swap, and weeding the new garden out front.

My kindergarten class is having a “lights out” day where we will use no power! The kids are pumped; they’re super excited to see how we work in the dark. We also have been collecting recyclables from our lunches and we will be painting with them and making a big collage. Thank you Mother Earth for found art projects for five-year-olds! -e

We are going to be filling the planting beds with composted scraps and mixing in all the goodness. With 2 – 2year old’s this is the best kind of Earth Day fun!

We are also going to plant some water wise plants in the front of the house.

Continuing our container garden plant-off with our four year old and making a recycled materials collage from stuff from our bins.

PS I hope my little guy gets a Kindergarten teacher just like Emily!

Sonia

On earth day I plan to recycle tons of things by donating them to charity.

I plan on taking my dad back to the farm so he can help repair the windmill!

i am planting my garden that day!

We plan to spend Earth day outside! We like to go for a nature walk and pick up any trash/recyclables that we find. We will also be planting a few flowers and working in the garden. My 7 year old son asked for his own garden spot this year, so we tilled one up for him and will help him get it started. We usually plant a tree on Earth day as well, and we have a new peach tree that we’ll be planting. My daughter asked if we could have an Earthday cake…so i may do that too. :)

Aimee

I will be at work, but I’m turning all the thermostats up so the air conditioning isn’t going to waste too much money this summer. :)

Sara

We keep forgetting to put our recycling out for pick-up, so we’ll take everything to our local recycling center.

Since I am working, Earth Day will have to wait until the weekend. I will be spending as much time as possible outdoors!

Planting, weeding, planting, weeding!

We will probably celebrate Earth Day on the weekend by taking my niece and nephew to the local state park for their clean up weekend.

Harmony

I plan on taking the preschool children I teach for a nature walk and doing a fun activity with them to spruce up our recycling area in the classroom!

Postponing the “earth day planting” and backyard landscaping until this weekend…better weather.

I’ll be working, and driving an economical Fit home

Blair

I’ll be cleaning up the empty field behind my house. The city is supposed to do it, but we’ve been living there almost 4 years and they’ve only come once. There is a road right next to it and soooo much trash gets thrown into that field- there is always broken glass in our yard from where empty beer bottles hit our fence and explode, not to mention condoms, cigarette butts, mcdonalds bags, potato chip bags, and any kind of plastic wrapper you can imagine. It’s terrible! The green products would be great because then at least I would know that the inside of my house was clean and safe!!

I’ll be carpooling, and drinking water from a reuseable bottle!

We will be participating in an event called Trash to Treasure in our neighborhood. It’s a big ole bring your trash and turn it into someone’s treasure event. Oh and they are also taking all kinds of hard to recycle items too. Should be fun.

Plans for earth day:
Spring cleaning
Working in the garden
Driving my hybrid
Planning some art pieces
Reducing, reusing, and recycling. :)

I just bought a new house, and these eco-friendly cleaners will be put to good use there. I’ve vowed to only clean it with green cleaners! As for today, I worked all day, but I will be researching ways to conserve water in my showers tonight. I hate that you waste so much water waiting for the water to heat up for your shower. I am open to suggestions too, please post if anybody has any?

planting my vegetable seeds on earth day!
