Hilary

I plan on doing a lot of spring cleaning and starting my garden on Earth Day.

chris

We plan on starting some of our vegetable seeds indoors. A summer full of our backyard bounty will not only save in money at the grocery store – - but in all the oil it takes to bring the veggies from the farm to the store.
Gardens are such a great reminder that the earth is precious – - and it helps the birds, worms, and pollinators too!!

jennifer

we are starting our butterfly garden plans…good for honey bees too!

Krista

I will be planting trees and cleaning up the trash around the creek that runs by my office. Otherwise I try to live my live in a very earth-friendly way everyday of the year.

Elizabeth

I try to be Earth-Friendly every day too! But specifically on Earth Day, I plan to put in a low-flow shower head and tweak my toilet to make it use less water (by putting a soda bottle in the tank… I’ve read it helps!). Water is the area of my apartment that is the least green and so it needs some sprucing up for the spring! Thanks for the giveaway!

Laura

We’re planting some tomatoes, peppers and melons for our summer garden. We just got a good composter and a rain barrel at a local event that we’ll be setting up. We regularly do other green things, but why are the food-related ones the ones I like the most?? :)

I am going to start my seeds on Earth Day too! It’s close enough now… the root veggies and greens all say four to six weeks before the last frost so I am going to risk it!

Sarah

Great giveaway! Earth Day happens to be my due date, so I may be having a baby that day. If not, I plan to plan some seeds with my daughter and go to our local organic garden’s celebration.

Erin

I’ll be cleaning up a park and cleaning my apartment. A good combination!

sarah

i try to celebrate earth day every day–this year I’ve started my own compost and I plan to finish installing my rain barrel this week! every little bit helps..

Jen

I love Seventh Generation products! We’re going to be doing some planting on Earth Day as well.

Patricia

Honoring the Earth and celebrating Spring: cooking (and eating!)organic, cleaning, and doing a little drawing, I hope.

Kris

Yes! We are going green in our house — replacing our household & bath products with all natural and organic products that have natural ingredients. This will be perfect!

Jennifer

In our household, Earth Day serves as a reminder to be kind to our planet everyday- not just Earth Day- and to enjoy what the Earth gives us. We regularly recycle, use energy efficient bulbs, turn off lights when not in use, and unplug devices when not in use. So, we celebrate by spending time outdoors, going to a botanical garden or enjoying other “earthly” simple pleasures.

I will be working, sadly, but on the plus side, I happen to work at a company that only sells products with earth-friendly benefits and part of my job is writing articles on compost bins, gardening and water preservation. So hopefully on Earth Day, I can spread a little inspiration. :D

Kim

We are having a picnic in the park then spring cleaning.

Earth Day is my birthday, so I’ll celebrate for myself and the planet!

Werlemmings

We will be watching GREEN PORNO!

I plan to clean out my too small for us now apartment and start my balcony garden again and make some cake – because whats a holiday/celebration without cake! and since its also administative professional day i hope that i get some love.

Sasha

Clean my apartment with environment-friendly products, and brush my cats – less fur in the atmosphere!

Hubby and I plan on getting the veggie garden going, spreading some composted household and yard waste and planting some flowers with my daughter. I might also go online with her and teach her about ways to help our Earth as well!

hope

I’ll take a long walk in Laurelhurst Park here in Portland. It’s a gorgeous, wild urban landscape that reminds me why I love living in such a green-friendly state.

I’m going to work in my garden and reaffirm my long-standing goal to not take plastic bags from stores.

I’ll be attending a plant sale on our university’s campus and then after I’ll be going to celebrate Earth Day by attending a free yoga class. There are many things going on my campus for Earth Day. :)

Well tomorrow we are going to Charlotte, NC ‘s Green Festival which should be pretty fun. Lot’s of vendors, farmers market and I’m hoping to take the class on starting a wildlife habitat in my backyard. As for the actual day, I’ll be wearing my “Think Recylce” shirt.

brenna

I went to a plant sale last weekend and hope to plant the two trees I purchased!

Kirstin

I live in a small mountain town and many of our “side” roads meander through undeveloped areas. On earth day, I take a very long walk with a wagon and pick up any trash that might have found its way to the sides of the road.

Hopefully Earth Day will be a good day to garden, it seems like the best celebration to me. :)

Haylie

Got a green t shirt and volunteer to clean up a park…

Thank you for the giveaway. I plan to try and plant some veggies and flowers.

Kelly Ann T.

We are having are having an eco day at the college I attend. We are having activities for everyone and the public is invited. We are even recycling old computers, batteries, and cell phones. I will be volunteering that day at the kids scavenger hunt. They will be hunting for clues on how to be more “green”. We have all kinds of vendors coming and fun things to do.

I wish everyone a HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

Carol

We will be preparing our garden beds.

Spring clean up – laying new organic mulch and fertilizer

Earth Day I am spending along the Susquehana river here in Harrisburg PA picking up trash and cleaning up the riverbank…I always try to do something very local and I love my river and do everything I can do to keep it healthy..

julie l.

my plan for earth day is to plant a tree in honor of my recently departed cat (i hope that doesn’t sound too weird!) and go for one day without generating any inorganic garbage–harder than it sounds.

Carol S

We always try to plant a new tree around here each Earth Day- thanks for an awesome giveaway.

Mansi

Such a fun giveaway! Thank you :)

I’ve started a family tradition since the past 3 years for Earth Day. My family and I plant four trees for each family member in our backyard and this year I am also extending the awareness for the need to increase recycling at my workplace with a short presentation on how much recyclable material ends up in our landfils. I will be volunteering through my university for a cleanup community day too. I love wearing green or something related to ‘Earth Day’ on Earth Day.

My passion for going greener started in college when I chose to present a speech on making recycling mandatory for certain recyclable items in a speech class. There’s so much we can do to save Earth and I am trying to do my part!

DawnMarie

I am beginning my project of the yard. I am starting with the front and making it a beautiful hard scape that requires little water but has a beauty of rocks and plants.

I don’t have any specific plans other than preparing for the last day or two of finals for the winter semester. Hopefully after that I can get some free time to celebrate something.

Lisa

I’m volunteering at an Earth Day festival booth for my community garden coalition.

Sandra K321

We will be celebrating on the Saturday instead. Our local natural food store always has a big event planned for that day. They put up tents on their lawns and have talks, product information, and free sample giveaways all day.

Betsy

My boyfriend and I are helping with the local yarn store’s “free knitting lesson” booth. 2009 is the International Year of Natural Fibers.

jennifer h

I will be working, but after work, I plan to just sit outside and enjoy nature.

I’ve used the products before and love them!! I hope to be working in my garden on Earth Day-if the weather cooperates. And I’ll be playing the bass at a local Earth Day Celebration on the 25th!
