steal this idea: DIY changing table

I’m years away from having kids of my own, but that doesn’t stop me from drooling over amazing design — even if it is for babies! This industrial changing table over at Cookie magazine’s nesting blog is awesome. Clever mommy Sara and her handy husband made the table from an inexpensive car tools cart by Sunex. I love the idea of making my own kiddie furniture when it comes time for me to do so, but maybe by then Sunex will have moved into the baby goods industry and I won’t have to! — Erica P.

I don’t have kids either, but this would make a cool bar cart as well.

I love how it would transition later into some other type of adult furniture. With a good hearty scrubbing beforehand, of course. ; )

Ditto what Katie said.

I like this idea too. We’re expecting a baby in October, but have a small living space. This would be useful when the baby is in diapers, but then we could use it in the garage someday when we’re in a bigger space. Nice!

Our changing table is on of those little kitchen shelving units from Target, three pull-out baskets under a sort of counter top to which we’ve strapped the changing pad. It’s a perfect height, very stable, and ready to be re- purposed in an instant! Now I feel all giddy with coolness, having discovered that I beat Cookie magazine to the punch. Thanks!
