pitch perfect gift: a pocket lullaby

Confession time: I used to give gift cards for presents. Birthdays, anniversaries, hostess gifts, the mailman at Christmas — you name it, they all got gift cards. Don’t get me wrong, I did it with plenty of shame: I died a little every time I had to slap that Hallmark card loaded with a Best Buy gift certificate on a present table full of homemade boxes of fudge, handcrafted jewelry, and other perfectly wrapped treasures. I’m happy to report that those days have come to an end. I recently stumbled on a sweet, sentimental present that will cross all sorts of event genres and cost you less than $10: these miniature music boxes from the folks at Kikkerland. There are over 30 different lullabies to choose from including the classic Fur Elise and Amazing Grace to more contemporary tunes like Yellow Submarine and Stairway to Heaven (surely the abridged version). They also offer a DIY music box, $15, for all those cubicle dwellers by day/rock stars by night. –Katie D.

Seems like a perfect gift for new mommies too. Loving the price!
