fall fixture preview: new pendants from rejuvenation

As someone with fluorescent lighting that is the thing of nightmares, lately I’ve been more interested in ways to beautify my kitchen than I’ve been in the fashion magazines Jenga-ed into my mailbox. Luckily for me, September marks the launch of Rejuvenation’s first line of industrial pendants and two exciting additions to their mid-century modern collection.

I think there’s something very charming about the form-follows-function nature of industrial style, so I loved these new pendants: the Wiley, $129, and the McCoy, $99. The Wiley style is a re-purposed version of the hand-held “trouble-finder†light (dubbed thus by Sears in 1910) originally used to light old barns and compact spaces. With its oak handle, optional wire cage, and graphite finish, it reminds me of my grandad’s workshop, and would be the perfect addition to my crawlspace of a kitchen!
Both versions can be customized with one of two wire guard shade options (I like the daisy shape) or new painted shades that are available in various diameters and four colors. In a perfect world (where fluorescent lighting doesn’t exist) I’d also snap up a classic reproduction bulb to complete my industrial revolution.

For those who love more iconic pendants, Rejuvenation is also expanding their mid-century modern line with the addition of the Sfera and Astron styles, which will be available on the website starting September 1. A very different aesthetic from the industrial lamps, these would be just the thing for when my fave Mad Men are in town. Come for a cocktail, Don Draper! These are great, and the prices aren’t bad at all….
it’s about freakin’ time rejuvenation brought themselves further into the 20th century (well- *half* way through)..
i’m giggling to myself right now (and I guess to you too…) I was thinking the exact same things 4 years ago when I lived in portland, oregon when I was wandering around their retail space wondering why they stopped where they did.
the daisy shape is very nicely proportioned!
The SteamPunk folks are gonna go NUTS for that one on the right!
These folks are great!
