I love that every once in awhile I can be totally blown away by the work of a new artist, that something as simple as a table or chair can be redesigned in a way that makes my eyes widen and my heart flutter. That is what happened when I stumbled upon the website of artist Valentin Loellmann. Valentin’s work is built from “forgotten pieces of furniture” that are pieced back together in a way that allows the new work to “keep its character and uniqueness and hide it at the same time.” I find the pieces to be both a little bit whimsical and a touch macabre. My favorite is the “drawer” — what an incredible bedside table that would make. –Erica P.
