There is a house we drive past regularly with a large porch floor painted bright red. It is absolutely charming, and a great fit for the style of house. Except: the house is painted white, and the red reflects, making it look distinctly pink, which is a little less charming. This may not be as much of a problem with eaves, since they are in the shade. (the effect is definetly stronger on a sunny day) but something people should consider and test before they're surprised. I would be careful with the house color if doing something like this.
