I went with the Overstock down alternative comforter you recommended, and also with an Overstock Duvet...specifically this one: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Egyptian-Cotton-500-Thread-Count-Duvet-Cover-Set/4298238/product.html Even though the duvet isn't technically machine washable, 3 people commented that they washed theirs and it still works. I decided to do that and go with less expensive, than to go with the slightly more pricey washable one. Maybe I'll regret that but I hope not! Thank you again! Shelterrific is magic ;-) I will let you know what I end up with. I also did an internet search and apparently some people like having microfiber comforters as they don't really hold onto pet hair. However, I have noticed in a few nice hotels lately, that they have just been using really crisp giant, heavy, untucked sheets to create a clean line covering pillows and all bedding. Maybe some of the heavier wrinkle-free variety? Or something with weighted corners?
