don’t-miss movie decor: it’s complicated

I saw It’s Complicated the other week, and could barely focus on the frothy plot. All I could think about was the insanely gorgeous kitchen of Meryl Streep’s character, Jane. From the first moment I saw it, I gasped. Open shelves, a large eat-around island, clusters of olive oil bottles, shelves of cookbooks, cake plates filled with pastries and bowls of gorgeous fruit. Who lives like this!? Jane, it turns out, is a professional baker, and as the movie progresses, one of the plot lines is that she is hiring an architect (Steve Martin) to build her a “real” kitchen. Man, this screenwriter has never been in our apartment, where you can’t open the oven, dishwasher, and fridge all at the same time! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the movie (it’d be an awesome girls’ night rental, though), but if you’re looking for an inspiring kitchen, it’s a must-see. — Angela M.

I know – I had the same thoughts – I couldn’t believe that with that gorgeous kitchen she was excited to finally be building “the kitchen she has always wanted”! Really beautiful set all the way around.
I had the same thoughts, but I must say I disagree about the movie. I absolutely loved it! I saw it with my mom, and we are still raving over it and laughing a week later. It’s a must see for both a good laugh and some design drooling!
Yeah, I’m excited to see it!!
Haven’t seen the movie yet, but yeah. I’d cut off a toe for a kitchen like that, instead of the stinky 90 year old one I currently have.
I was dying at that part too. Yeah, get rid of that kitchen you don’t want… I’ll take it! I also left the movie dying for a croissant or croque monsieur. I ended up making them the next night for dinner.
The Set Decorators Society just posted an article on their website detailing all the resources that Beth Rubino used to shop for the set of “It’s Complicated”, you can check it out here:

I agree with the kitchen, but how about the veggie patch or potage as they say. Apparently it’s the same interior designer as the movie with Jack Nicholson and I’ve forgotten but its about Jack falling in love with her daughter, then herself. Gobsmacking decor, must find out who it is
