strangely appealing: porthole bathtub

Monday, February 1st, 2010

portholeRemember when you were a kid and bath time was an adventure? When I was little, I used to submerge myself in water and swirl my hair all around pretending I was a mermaid trapped in a bed of seaweed. The grownup half of me now sees bathing as a routine necessity, but the kid in me desperately wants this porthole bath from Water Monopoly to splash around in. Everything about this bathtub makes me smile: the serene color, the adorable portholes, and the witty statement it makes. It’s like a punch line for your bathroom! — Katie D.

1) Bookstores you could live without. Books, on the other hand… Jen Worden says: “Frankly, I can’t remember when I was last IN a bookstore. Oh. Yes. To get a coffee actually. Didn’t even stop to look at the books. So I guess that would be a resounding, Yes! I can live without one. Now if you’d asked about a library? WHOLE other kettle o’ fish!” Could you live without a bookstore?

2) Reality TV auditions sound bad, but the food sounds good. Michelle V.K. says: “Wow — pretty intimidating! It sounds like you handled it well, though. I’m looking forward to trying your crab salad (the photo is beautiful). One tbs of chopped tarragon doesn’t seem like too much for four servings to me. But, of course, I am not an expert.” Read Megan’s MasterChef audition tale and recipe here.

3) Even curmudgeons can use a little love. Erin @ SYL: Slipcover Your Life says: “OK, a pillow like this might actually melt my Valentine’s Day Scrooge Heart!” Click to see the pillow.

4) You like the Enchanted Woods iPhone dock…we think. T Bone says: “i dropped my ipod in some wet leaves the other day – now i can finally have it blend in with the charger!” Ha — it’s an iPhone dock, T Bone! Shows what you know!

5) John & Kira’s also has delicious customer service. emma d. says: “My s.o. sent a lovely large assortment to his mom for her summer birthday, and even though the packaging specifically instructed UPS not to leave it at the door, the carrier did. The chocolates were ok – melty, but still delicious – and my s.o.’s mom called J&K’s just to let them know their instructions hadn’t been followed, and that the chocolates were yum anyway. They sent her a new box anyway! Great company.” Learn more about John & Kira’s.
