real life test kitchen: brookies

I have a hard time making up my mind. I can’t ever decide what I want for dinner, what shoes to wear, or what to order for dessert — especially when faced with a huge menu of delicious options. The brookie has solved a great deal of my problems. Part brownie, part cookie, all delicious, the brookie has also revolutionized dessert. If you’re ready for your mind to be blown, try the recipe at Vampire Gran’s Weblog (awesome title, by the way). I wasn’t sure how much the cookies would expand, so I made them a little on the small side. They didn’t expand as much as I had hoped, so my batch turned out to be more “bro†and less “ookie.” Don’t be afraid to add more cookie dough. Good luck! — Katie D.

what a delicious solution to a horrible problem. add some coffee ice cream on that and you’ve got yerself a dessert.
I have soooooooooo been looking for a recipe like this but I didn’t know what they were called. Yay!
OMG! This is fabulous and completely helps with my constant dessert crisis of which to choose! I love it and can’t wait to make some. Sounds delicious :o)
oh, and coffee ice cream. yes…
Martha Stewart featured these on her show a few weeks ago. They are apparently the brainchild of Matt Lewis, the owner of Baked in Brooklyn. You can see his appearance here: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/brookie
I don’t know who Matt Lewis is, but I can tell you that this is my own creation. I’m sure other people make this combination as well. It’s like saying ” Hey, I invented the chocolate chip cookie!” We all have our own version of it. Have fun with your food!
Vampire Gran, we never doubted you! It looks amazing! (Memo to self: Don’t work on the site while hungry.)
Love this! My husband actually made this for me on one of our first “sleep overs.” I think he got the recipe from his former roommate’s GF/now wife, who kept the boys fed while in undergrad….Thanks for the reminder….
