it’s the little things: a counter clutter organizer

Since we moved into our house a year ago, I’ve been trying to figure out an effective (and decent looking) way of corralling all of the random things that end up on our kitchen counter — shopping lists, mail, recipes, pens. Everything I found was too big for the space, so I finally settled on a vintage wire basket I found on Etsy. But though I love the basket, it just didn’t do the job — notes got too easily buried and things slipped through the openings. So you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a Real Simple organizer at Target, $16. It solves all of those problems with its multiple, sturdy compartments and compact size. Plus it’s cute. And now we have an organized mini-workstation in our kitchen. Sometimes it’s simple things in life that make me happy. — Michelle V. K.

I am loving this but I am loving your little iPad even more!! Look how cute it is!

That is cute! I may need to get one of those to coral all my countertop clutter… I clean it and then it is back to its old ways just a few days later…

Just open your top cupboard door and mount a pad of paper with a pen holder on the inside of the door (and a calendar too), and then you won’t have any clutter on your counter at all!

i recently settled on a real simple desk top organizer myself. finally! i love it too!

Ha ha — yes, iPads ARE cute! And very functional. It’s handy to have in the kitchen.

Diana: I love the idea of mounting a note pad and calendar inside a cupboard door. I may have to give that a shot. Anything to decrease clutter.
