My husband, 7 month old daughter and I are finally buying a house with, after spending 4 years renting a townhouse. I’m so excited to decorate and really make the place our own. We need a rug that will be comfy to crawl on, for a dog to nap on and our friends to dance on when we have a rocking housewarming party.

I need a new rug because my son has puked, pooped, dropped food on and spit on our current rug. Sorry to be so graphic, but those with kids will understand. Now that he is over that age of making lots of messes (hopefully!), I feel confident that our new rug will be safe. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one!

O please O please O please! I need a new rug because mine constantly looks like the ones pictured above. My puppies havn’t quite learned how to go outside yet. In the process they have ruined my rugs! PLEASE HELP

I rent a great turn of the century place with hard woods and high ceilings. I have two reasons for needing a new rug:
1) The place has no insulation or storm windows but it does have the oldest, mots inefficient furnace ever, so every year I am finding new and creative ways to keep warm in the winter. 2) the few throw rugs I owned were eaten by my puppy last winter. A new rug would be so lovely now that he’s over his chew phase. Fingers crossed!

Heather

I could really use a new rug because my living room needs some TLC after my toddler son has ground in crackers, dribbled milk, and spit up on our current one. And since I am currently undergoing chemo, there’s no money for a new one in our budget, so this is my chance for something cheerful to update my space!

We need a rug for the bathroom but it’s an odd length. Regular bathmats are too short; runners are too long. We need a long runner for the hallway so our husky will walk on the floor (she doesn’t like non-carpeted surfaces). And I’d like a rug to stand on in the kitchen, but it’s another odd dimension that we can’t find. Don’t even get me started on the fact that I can’t find the right sized rug to go under the dining table!

my husband and I are moving into our first house next month and it is beige, beige, beige! we aren’t going to be able to change everything right away, but I think a rug would be a great beginning to personalizing the new place and giving it some color!

I *need* the perfect rug because I can’t find the “perfect” one in the store!! I have been looking everywhere – help me, Perfect Rug!

I was hoping to get new carpets for the house for my 30th birthday in a few weeks, but our AC broke down…so I’m thinking new carpets won’t happen just yet. So a new rug would help me pretty up at least one room until we can afford to order carpet in a few months. And it would such a cool birthday present!

Moving to the country from my lovely Portland craftsman full of hardwoods and great light. The new house is filled with pergo and I’m already in mourning for the loss of them! No funds for new flooring (or anything else) after the move, so rugs are a necessity. Please?

adrienne

We just refinished all of our original hardwood flooring – OURSELVES! Our old home has gone through a lot of restoring, and we’re broke now that it is time to do the finishing touches. The living room desperately needs a rug :-/

I need a rug for the bedroom to make it feel less like an overlooked space, and more like one with a right to sophistication of its own. So much of our attention and limited budget goes into putting the best and the brightest on display, that I want something that is for me and my partner in cohabitation — less a den of lasciviousness, and more of a testimony to the fact that we do, in fact, care about ourselves both together and individual, away from prying eyes.

We just moved into a 102 year old home with tons of southern charm. But we don’t have any thing for our “paw-lore.” Please, help me avoiding being the talk of our neighborhood amongst all the older ladies bringing us housewarming goodies!

mudrick

I’ve been looking for the perfect rug blue, green, beige for months without success. What a great resource!

Just moved into my first post-college apartment with the fiance and we have nothing on our floors. Nothing. It’s fairly depressing…and COLD on the feet. We’re saving up for a rug, but with student loans to repay, it’ll be a while before we can afford one. It would be awesome to camp out on the floor in front of our fireplace this winter on one of those lovely green fabrics and have a romantic indoor picnic!

jess

i need a new rug because mine was stolen.

kidding.

we have a 10 month old, newly refinished hardwood floors and just got a sweet new mid century coffee table on craigslist, and BOY would the perfect rug really bring the room together.

Lisa

We are preparing a room in order to welcome a foster child in our home (hopefully soon!). It isn’t the largest or most glamorous room but a beautiful rug that fits the odd size would be so fantastic. It would go a long way toward creating a welcoming and cozy space. Thanks for the offer!

Monica

Our bare wood floors are like peanut butter longing for jelly, like Eames with no Miller, Coco without tweed. The floors are lonely, they are cold; and they need some lovin’.
My naked foot weeps each time it hits the icy floor, coveting a soft, plush, textured adventure of a rug skimming along her soles.
A floor without a rug, how can it be? Well, this decor-ista recently relocated 1000+ miles to reunite with her husband after living apart for 1.5 years! And alas, we have no rug! Thanks for your consideration!

Erin

I have pretty terrible looking carpet in my house. I think an amazing rug would easily make me forget the ugly carpet and help me to embrace the amazing house I DO have.

I’m desperate for a new rug. DESPERATE I tell you! Here’s the story; 4 years ago my boss said “I need someone to move to Houston TX to take care of our biggest client!” I said “Hey, why not!”. Hubby and I sold everything and moved ourselves, our daughter and my three cats to Houston into corporate housing (ie: furnished). We were supposed to be there for a year, plenty of time to put a bit away for furnishings when we moved.. Only here’s the thing… three months later my boss said “I need you to go ahead and move back here, we don’t need anyone out there now”. Um. WTF. After quite a few phone call altercations and a teary breakdown by yours truly, we agreed to move back to NH as long as Boss would give us money for furnishings, etc (basically a payoff so I’d stop crying and freaking out). Boss said “”How much?” I said I can furnish a two bedroom apartment with 3K at Ikea. I got 2,200. Now seriously… 3,000 to completely furnish a home is cutting it WAY thin… getting the money as a paycheck and having big bucks removed for taxes? LAME! This cut out quite a few things… a decent mattress for me/hubby, new bedding for all of us, curtains, blinds, etc… OH.. and a rug for the living room. The place we moved into had a huge rug remnant that the owner said I could have. It was crappy, and had actual black permanent ink writing on the corner, but no biggy… I’ll only be keeping it for a few months. Um. No. It’s four years later and I still have this disgusting rug. Why? Lost my job, bad economy, blah blah blah. So here’s the thing… I need a new rug or as God is my witness I’ll break into just one of my old bosses ostentatious house and steal HIS rugs. Help keep me out of jail, please. They don’t allow rugs.

I need a new rug because I just bought one off Craigslist and now I know why the person was selling it. It smells of burnt rubber and it’s making my studio apartment unbearable! However, I’m unemployed right now and the $80 I spent on this rug was all I could afford to spend. I thought I was doing a good deed by giving away my old rug, but now I wish I had it back so I could get rid of this new one. After searching for solutions online, I can’t find any way to get rid of the smell and there might be hazards to my health if I keep it for a prolonged time. It’s really too bad, because the rug feels and looks great, but the smell is overwhelming every time I come in and it’s more than a little embarrassing when I have guests. I wanted to treat myself by sprucing up my tiny apartment but now I’m suffering for it. Help!

Jennifer

I need the Perfect Rug, because I have been searching all over for the perfect rug! I painted my dining room white with the hopes of adding a rug that added color and style to the room and have yet to find that piece. So without it, my room is boring and white.

christy

Every single object my kids touch hits the laminate floor, and after living with this maddening banging for 8 years, I cannot be held responsible for my actions. This, my friends, is why I need a new rug.

Stephanie

We have this huge open wood floor space that is continuity being scratched by kids! I would love to help protect our floors (and our kids knees!)

Sarina

A move is happening soon,
To my first “big girl” apartment sometime after June.
I don’t have lots of extra ch-ching,
but The Perfect Rug would be an amazing thing!

I have amazing hardwood floors that could use some protection. Plus my living room needs a pop of color.

I would love a Perfect Rug to warm up my living room (I have no carpets in my home), and to cut down on the noise of my dogs’ nails on the wood flooring. Tick tick tick!

Jessica E.

We are in terrible need of a new rug. Since the day we brought home our discount store rug, two years ago, it hasn’t stopped shedding. It still fills the vacuum canister every time. Any day now we are going to start seeing bald spots.

amy

We SO need The Perfect Rug! Not only will it tie the whole room together (our kitchen/living room is big open space), but we have 3 rescued cats who have demolished our old rugs thrice-over. We desperately need an anchor for our coffee table as well as something to muffle the noise from the coffee shop/bar right below us.

Ring

We’ve been looking for the perfect rug for 8 months now. We found a rug that we thought was perfect, but it was too big for our space. We’re very particular about the color & design of the rug, so it has been a struggle. I love the fact that The Perfect Rug lets us customize rugs. I found a bunch of samples that I really like!

Sara

My husband and I moved into our first house last year. Since then, we have been decorating it in a sort of piecemeal way (furniture and home accessories are expensive!). We are slowly but surely getting the living room in order. It is a very odd shape, and we have had some trouble making it work. Everyone who walks into the room says “you know what you need? A rug. It would really make this disjointed room look more cohesive.” So, perhaps all of my commenters are right! A rug would tie it all together!

We could use a new rug because we have an old cat. She’s lovely but she has a digestive disease which causes her to puke…a lot. And she has an uncanny ability to only puke on our cream hallway rug. We’ve lived in this house for 2 years and it looks so dirty. Please help! We’d rather get a new rug than a new cat!

I just got rid of the rug I bought for my freshman year of college…and I just finished my first year of grad school. I have one more year in campus housing, and have always bought the budget-friendly accessories that are only meant to last for a year or two. It would be great to have a high-quality rug that really reflects my personal style and a more grown-up atmosphere!

I need a new rug so I can hang out with my dogs and cats on the floor! (Too uncomfortable on the hardwood floor.)

The Perfect Rug is like that essential final stroke in completing a masterpiece. My living room is the palette and having The Perfect Rug will transform it to a work of art.

Well, here is a true story about my whole entire house. I once had a lovely carpet that covered many rooms of my house but our dog got old and started losing control of her bodily functions. This went on for over a year and the smell was so overwelming,we tried everything to clean the carpet.Nothing worked not even having a cleaning service come. So,one day I realized the only thing left to do was to pull up my once lovely, soft and inviting carpet. Underneath was little wood planks, each piece 6 inches long and many pieces were missing, others were just scratched or covered in what looked like old bubble gum from the first owners. The dog has passed and I miss her terribly but now I have these ugly floors. My baby falls on these floors all the time and they are just embarrassing to look at.
Thats my story.

Emily

We desperately need a rug for our dining room area but it’s a larger joint room with the living room. A round rug would be perfect but it’s hard to find one that will fit. My dog, Sammi, loves to lay at my feet but only on carpet so he always hangs out by the couch when I’m at the table. I’d love to have something soft for us to be cozy!

Pencils

I need the perfect rug because my husband and I just bought a fixer-upper house earlier this year, and while we have lovely hardwood floors in all rooms (other than the kitchen and baths) they’re cold in the winter. And we have so many other projects that come before rugs! Like siding the house–the dimwit former owners stripped the paint off the cedar shakes and left them unprotected for years, so now they’re crumbling. We’ve already put in a new, superefficient furnace and hot water heater, among other expensive changes. I’ve been slowly fixing up my toddler daughter’s first room of her own, and a pretty rug is just what she needs–although we really need a living room rug too. Sigh. And we need a fence to keep our daughter from running in the street, our stoop is crumbling…don’t get me started! A rug would be a great help. :)

Why do I need a perfect rug? Because I haven’t found one yet!! I have one wall painted a gorgeous deep but bright plum, and the other three walls are greige. Not just any greige, but the PERFECT greige. So naturally, a perfect rug would do the room some good. Do you know how hard it is to find a perfect rug that matches griege and plum and isn’t gaudy as hell? So hard that I haven’t accomplished that feat yet. So perfect rug friends, give ME a perfect rug that, rest assured, no children will ever vomit on and ruin its perfection!

Julia L.

I would LOVE to win this! My husband and i just bought our first house. The only rug we’ve ever had is one the huz’ got second hand and refuses to get rid of. Now it doesn’t fit in our new living room and we (I) can finally get a new one that doesn’t gross me out!

Lisa

I’m moving from Missouri to Portland, OR in a few short weeks and will only be bringing what I can fit into my small Honda. Definitely will not be able to pack bulky rugs or much of anything else :/ Would LOVE to start over in PDX with a beautiful new rug. Also, TPR carries great natural fibers and environmentally friendly products. The Nigel Charcoal wool berber looks gorgeous. The perfect rug would be a great base to build my new life!

Robin Grey

I need the perfect rug because I’ve been looking for a rug for my dining room for almost 4 years. That’s right, 4 years, and nothing suits. Help!

Kelly

We’re newlyweds, so our furnishings are still very sparse. With only a couch and no chairs, I always volunteer to sit on the floor when we have guests.

My butt would be much happier to sit on a cozy new rug instead of the cold hardwood floor!

The Dude

It’s a long story, man. I need a new rug because some thugs who mistook me for a different guy, broke in and peed on my rug. That kind of aggression shouldn’t stand, man. I went to the other guys place to see if he might help pay for the cleaning — that rug really brought the room together — but, man, he was not cool. I ended up taking one of his rugs, but then that got stolen back away from me. Then things get complicated — lots of ins, lots of outs — with the nihilists, fake kidnappers, and the kid who stole my car, briefcase, and Creedence. Aw. I lost my train of thought here. But… aw, hell. I’ve done introduced it enough.

We have been in our apartment just over six months. We have a huge balcony but Baby find the concrete a bit rough on his knees. An outdoor rug would be just the thing we need!
Good luck to all.

Jike

I need a new runner in my hallway. It’s nearly impossible to find runners the right size that aren’t also ugly, so having a rug custom made would be the perfect solution.

Stasi

I have lived in europe off and on for the past 4 years. everythign we own fits into the bed of a pickup and we’re moving to the states again into my inlaw’s half renovated 1800 stone farm house. The wooden floors are great, but we sure could use a perfect rug to make the place feel more like ours.

Jessica

My husband and I just bought our first house, and all the floors are bare!! We need to warm it up a bit!

My animals need a fabulous surface to throw up on. 1000 square feet of linoleum and hard wood. 3 square feet of rug. They choose the rug EVERY time…

Monica

Oh, I need a new rug. See, I moved into a great rented house, and right before I moved in, the landlord put in new carpet throughout the house, that is the most boring shade of beige ever. It’s also berber. A great little rug would brighten up my small entryway.
