pining away for franciscan silver pine porcelain

While visiting Southern California last month (another post to come), my husband and I got to go through and clean out the vintage-licious pink kitchen of his childhood home. It was impossible for me to hide my glee at much of what I saw (vintage pyrex! milk glass cake stands!), but the piece de resistance had to be a healthy amount of Franciscan Silver Pine porcelain china. Though its true luster was masked by a dusty patina, it took my breath away at first glance. We shipped it home along with the rest of the high school year books, 45′s, and various other delights — to the hefty tune of $200. Come to find out the cost of the shipping was made up for in the china alone, as a single coffee cup and saucer fetches about $10 at ebay or replacements, ltd (which is awesome, btw). Other pieces get exponentially more expensive, as much as $140 for a serving platter and $740 for a 45 piece set . For now, I guess I’ll be content with the amount we have, but if any readers out there have a couple of cups and a set of soup bowls they’d be willing to give up for a song, let me know! –Megan B.

Lucky you.
not sure if they have any in stock but you could try http://www.richesantiques.ca/ the site is a little confusing but I know for a fact that if you send them off an email they will try to find what you’re looking for at a very reasonable price.
Gorgeous stuff. Can’t wait to see what else you found. I love me some vintage Pyrex and cake stands!
Megan, I found one more dinner plate in the cupboard after you left. I will ship it off to you.
Love you,
Mom B.
What a wonderful find! I first discovered Silver Pine at an “antique” store in Hot Springs AR where I had evacuated to during hurricane Katrina. The set included several Silver Pine wine glasses made by Tiffin for Franciscan. I’ve added some nice serving pieces, incl. a 16″ platter, and just “won” on Ebay yesterday the highly elusive coffee pot.
oh my god, i love this! i collect the franciscan starburst. i’ve actually never seen the silver pine!
Beautiful stuff! I was actually very lucky, and bought a mishmashed set of of Silver Pine at a yardsale a few years ago. I had no idea the deal I was getting, just that I loved the pattern! Thanks for sharing!
I have a coffee pot in mint condition..has been used only a few times…would let it go for 2 sets of cream soup and saucer which I am missing. The coffee pot sells for over 400$ on Replacements
hi do you want some unused franciscan silver pine, it was packed away – my mom died in 1988 & my dad passed away last month & i’ll never use it & i’m not a collector. i have 8 cups with saucers, 2 little bowls, 1 bigger oval bowl, 6 little plates (dessert? little bigger than saucers but no indentation in the middle), 2 medium plates & 4 bigger (dinner?) plates & 1 bigger oval (serving?) plate. rest of the stuff broken so i threw away, but these have no chips or anything, never used at all. i’m in california & not after top dollar, just a little & to cover shipping so that someone who appreciates it can have it.
I found my cream soup bowls but I am missing the stands which are 7 inches diameter plates, a little bigger than the bread and butter plates, if you have them Susan, I would be interested in buying them
Just found a set of Silver Pine with only one cup and saucer and one desert plate missing. $60! Came with five of the matching Tiffin goblets. Wasn’t sure what we had, just loved the pattern. After checking prices of replacement pieces we are realizing just how lucky we are to have run across this. If anyone has three of the goblets, I would like to know what you want for them. @ Susan – If you still have the items, how much do you want for all of it – or just the desert plate and the serving pieces?
Sorry, guys — I snatched up Susan’s lot almost immediately! They now have a good home and now I have an ALMOST complete eight piece setting. But Rebecca — that sounds like a score.
And Susan, you already know how much I appreciate it — but thanks again for letting me take those off your hands. Our readers are such a wonderful bunch!
