treaddesk: the answer to long conference calls

treaddesk

Anyone tried a TreadDesk yet? I don’t think I could bear to work anywhere but at my grandfather’s desk when I’m at home. However, I wouldn’t mind if I walked in one morning to see TreadDesks in the office. Long meetings wouldn’t be any less boring, but at least they’d be a bit more productive and incorporate some movement. Stationary models are $475 while the adjustable-height desks start at $1498.50. –Sarah L.

I NEED one of these! First I thought “Is this a joke” but this thing would solve so many of my sleepless nights. I’m going back to work after 25 months of Unemployment and the job includes an hour commute. I’m trying to find a gym close by or at least on the way so I can continue the weightloss I’ve been so successful at with my at home time. And I’m panicking about not knowing where I’ll be working out. So in all seriousness, I want one of these desks. Now to find a way to pay for it.

Jaymie, first congrats on the job and the weightloss! Second, I’m totally with you on thinking it wasn’t a real product. I ran across it in an article on EW but it took me awhile to get around to googling it and posting. That’s always the way! http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20404675,00.html

Thank you Sarah! If I ever manage to get one of these I’ll send in a photo

I bought a treaddesk 9 months ago and love it. I have lost 18 lbs, my legs are toned, I sleep much better and am more productive all day long. Walking while I work has changed my life and I will never again sit all day at work. I highly recommend the treaddesk.

Hi, I came across your site via Apartment Therapy. It’s so funny you just posted about this because I had been Googling “treadmill desks” recently, but I did not come across TreadDesks. The company’s site looks more legit and well-organized than anything else I encountered, and the product looks more aesthetically pleasing (as much as something like this can get!).

While I adore my job and like my workplace, I absolutely hate sitting still in front of a computer screen all day, basically immobile except for bathroom and lunch breaks. It makes me cringe to think the damage this does to one’s body over the long term. Unfortunately, I doubt my traditional workplace (most of us have old, heavy wood furniture in our offices) would permit these. If these were more common in the workplace, imagine how much employers could potentially save and benefit: They would likely pay less in insurance premiums in the long term (fewer cases of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes, perhaps), and employees would be healthier and more alert. I don’t see the downside.
