leah’s ebay finds: lotus chandelier

shelter_lotuslight.jpg

Check out this ultra-glam vintage brass lotus pendant that’s listed on eBay right now. It is strikingly similar to a light fixture I spotted in Hollywood designer Darren Ransdell’s home, when it was featured in a recent issue of InStyle Home. Ransdell’s Sixties-era light is a Tommi Parzinger original — which likely means that he paid a small fortune for it. (Even knockoffs and reproductions of these classic lotus lights, like the one from SparkleDivine, sell for several hundred bucks.) Click here to see the lamp on eBay, auction ends on Thurs evening and the current bid is only $10! — Leah H.

wish we were there: brimfield antique show

shelter_brimfield.jpg
In the opening scene of War of The Roses, Kathleen Turner meets Michael Douglas while strolling through what looks like the largest antique/flea market I’ve ever seen. I’m not 100% positive, but I’ve always thought it to be Brimfield, the tri-annual extravaganza in Massachusetts that’s on now through September 9th. Over 5,000 dealers descend on the tiny town, that balloons from 2,000 to 250,000 over a six day period. Called America’s Yard Sale by some, it is a collector’s paradise. And I’ve haven’t made it there yet… Anyone want to sign up for a spring 2008 road trip with me? Till then, check out more photos in this flickr set by Karen Marlene Larson. — Angela M.

leah’s ebay find: x-base stools

shelter_ebaystools.jpg

Do these stools look a little familiar? Maybe it’s because you just saw a similar pair in the latest issue of Elle Decor, where they graced a palatial, Victoria Hagan-designed spread in the Hamptons (below).

shelter_ellestools.jpg

One or both of these will add a touch of sophisticated, Forties-style flair to your dressing table or at the foot of your bed. Or you could follow Hagan’s lead and tuck the pair under a console table, where they can be pulled out to provide extra seating at your next cocktail party — and then quickly slid back in when your guests bid their adieus. Click here to see the stools at eBay. Current bid: $203. — Leah H.
