Mary T. Sheely is Shelterrific’s senior editor, daily up-keeper, and Photoshop amateur. Mary is a freelance writer with a love for all things mid-century modern, a serious kitsch habit, and a thing for extra-large dogs. Her work has included TV spots featuring Charlie the Tuna (perhaps she shouldn’t admit that), editing Kodak ProPass Magazine, and contributing to PEOPLEPets.com. She lives with her husband and aforementioned giant dogs in a West Seattle “war box.” In Her Photo: A Malibu Solar Squirrel Light on a chair that she webbed herself. Angela Matusik is Shelterrific’s founder, as well as a full time editor and manager at a large women’s network site. Some of the titles she has worked for include People, In Style, Domino, Departures and the late, great Budget Living, where she was editor-in-chief from June 2005 until its closing. All pales to the joy of her latest creation along with hubby Chad: daughter Isadora. They are snug in a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan, and escape to a one-bedroom cottage on the Hudson River on the weekends. In Her Photo: Her Enid from Ghost World doll. Writer Erica Policow is a food editor as well as an artist and craftster who lives in New York City’s West Village. Her current obsessions include anything made with Figs and updating the kitchen in her rental. In Her Photo: A collection of pots that represent her passion for food, the importance of her family (her mom gave her the brown pair) and her love for New York (she found the blue one at a New York street sale). Katie Donbavand is a freelance writer who loves baking bread, a good DIY project, and winning at Texas Hold ‘em. A Boston import, she currently lives with her husband on the first floor of a Chicago brownstone. Follow Katie on Twitter.
Megan Barone is an occasional caterer, culinary instructor, and writer as well as rocking out her day job running the food demo program at her local “nautical/Hawaiian-themed” grocery store. A West Coast native, she now holds down the fort in Seattle with her husband, two cats, and an ever-expanding art collection in a 1961 rambler they are DIY-ing to its deserved potential.
Sarah Lyons is an advertising copywriter who lives across the river from Cincinnati in Kentucky — although she has yet to taste a mint julep. When not working, running after two small kids, or rescuing dolls from the family terrier, she and her husband are slowly adding charm to a functional but cookie-cutter 1990s farmhouse-style home in suburbia.
